Cutting glass tapers can be complex, but this course will walk through the math behind getting it right.

Is this course for me?

This class is designed for someone who has some experience cutting glass and grouting. The class will provide grouting tips relative to this project, but will not describe how to mix and apply grout.

If you’re a beginner and would like to make this mirror, here are some resources to give you a bit of experience cutting glass and grouting. That way, you’ll feel more comfortable taking this class.

First, learn the basics

Cut it

Learning how to cut glass is foundational to mosaics. This YouTube video by Karen Silton provides a place to start.

However, I recommend taking a stained glass mosaics class that will cover brands of glass, tools and how to use them, glass layout, cutting and nipping glass, adhesives, and more.

I highly recommend Yulia Hanansen’s Stained Glass Mosaics for Beginners online course.

Grout it

Grouting is fairly easy, with a bit of practice. This YouTube video by Bonnie Fitzgerald provides an excellent tutorial on how to grout a stained glass mosaic.

It’s common to have a bit of “groutaphobia” when you cover your first several projects with grout, but you’ll get comfortable and excited to see the end result with experience.
